Willem Vos – Contemporary Artist from the Netherlands

Biografie

Willem Vos (b. 1972, Ruinen) is a contemporary artist living and working in the tranquil village of Dwingeloo, nestled in the green, rural heart of Drenthe, the Netherlands. With a background in international business and over 25 years of experience in global trade, Vos made a bold transition into the art world at the age of 50 — a turning point where intuition finally took the lead over structure.

Entirely self-taught, Vos developed his style through exploration and instinct. His practice centers around transformation, emotional resilience and the raw edge of human experience. He works primarily with oil paint and acrylics, often incorporating sand, ash, charcoal or thick textures into his surfaces. The result: layered, tactile canvases that resonate beyond aesthetics.

Vos’s dual background — business and art — makes him both strategically collaborative and fiercely independent. His work has been featured in group exhibitions across Europe and Asia, including museum shows and curated international showcases.
